Product Recall: IKEA recalls LURVIG water dispenser for pets due to suffocation hazard for dogs and cats
IKEA is recalling the LURVIG water dispenser for pets due to risk for dogs and cats getting their heads stuck in the dome of the water dispenser with possible suffocation as consequence. IKEA urges customers to stop using the water dispenser and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund.
IKEA has received reports of two incidents where dogs got their heads stuck in the dome of the LURVIG water dispenser and suffocated. LURVIG water dispenser has been sold in 15 markets since sales start in October 2017.
“We are saddened by the events that resulted in two dogs suffocating. We know that pets are important and loved family members for many of our customers. At IKEA safety always comes first and that is why we have decided to recall the LURVIG water dispenser.” says Petra Axdorff, Business Area Manager at IKEA of Sweden AB.
The LURVIG water dispenser ($49.9) can be returned to any IKEA store or Merchandise Pickup Point for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required for a full refund.
