Meet Mr. and Mrs. Tang, a young couple who love kids and want a cosy dream home with space for family time and their three boys. However, it was a real challenge to explore the potential of their small apartment, where the family of five and their domestic helper share the 400-square-foot living space. Mr. Tang knows that the boys will need more personal space as they grow, and would love to have a home makeover that will help them cope with the new stage of life.
(1) Father and the sons are active, but the living room was so cramped that everything needed to be cleared away before one of the boys could train on the treadmill; (2) the dining room was so tiny and the family could never have dinner together; (3) the two small bedrooms had to accommodate six people; (4) the eldest son will be in his adolescence soon, and wants his personal space and something different from his brothers
An extra desk or a big dining table? Why not both? Create a high desk with adjustable legs and hide another desk with legs on castors underneath. When pulled out, they become a big dining table for the whole family. The versatile and space-saving design also ensures that the boys now have their own desks. |

When space is precious, storage and organisation are crucial. A low cabinet can encourage the boys to tidy up their toys, a good habit that will make the parents happy when the domestic helper is not around. Daddy’s family photo collection now take central place on the wall and remind them of the wonderful memories.
The treadmill that used to stay behind the sofa now stands by behind the stylish curtain near the dining room. When it’s training time, the boy just needs to pull back the curtain, and unfold the treadmill at the multipurpose corner in the dining room.
Now with a more distinctive personality, the eldest boy wants some personal space. The spacious upper deck and a few wall shelves allow him to dream and display his toy collection. The space-saving underbed creates another cosy spot in the bedroom with limited space. A large desk allows the big brother to focus on his study, or to share it with the younger one.
As the youngest boy still sleeps with his parents, the trio need a large bed and smart wall solutions. Beneath the wall cabinet is a useful clothes rail, and some extra space for the mini beauty station that Mrs. Tang always wanted!
